Chili Davis only spent two years at the end of his career with the Yanks. He was part of the great1998 Yankees team, but isn't too well remembered since he he was limited by an injury all year. He only played 35 regular season games, but he did hit .291. He also hit .286 in the ALCS and again in the World Series, and his HR in Game 5 of the ALCS vs the Indians was huge and propelled the Yanks to a 3-2 series lead.
I'll best remember Chili for his 1999 season in which he hit 19 HRs at the age of 39. Not bad. The memory that will always stick out to me is his HR off Pedro Martinez in what was the best game I've ever seen pitched. It was the only hit off Pedro that night, as he struck out 17 Yanks. Outside of that hit in the second inning, he was completely untouchable.
I sent this card to Chili back in May in care of Pawtucket, and he sent it back signed last week from Tacoma, WA. He must have brought his mail home with him after the season. I like his signature, it's definitely unique.
Awesome success! Congrats AJ
