Contest winnings from Cardboard Heaven

I've won a few contests recently, which is cool because I feel like I don’t often win them, especially the randomized ones. The first contest I won was from Cameron over at Cardboard Heaven.

Cam had some Brewers signatures on a ticket stub, and I correctly guessed each guy. It was fun…I did a little investigatory work for the less obvious guys, including taking a look at the spring training non-roster invitee list, which was key.

As a prize, Cam sent me some a bunch of Yanks, as well as a pack of 2013 Topps Heritage. I was especially pumped for that, as I haven’t had a chance to pick any up yet, so it remains the only pack I’ve gotten so far.

Here are a few of the Yanks he sent:

The Heritage pack didn’t land me any Yanks, but I did manage an Aramis Ramirez short print.
Thanks again, Cam!

Secret Santa haul

I apologize that this has taken so long to post my Secret Santa haul from Bad Wax’s Secret Santa/Hanukkah Harry. I finally found a few minutes between changing poopy diapers to scan the cards and provide a quick write-up.

My Secret Santa was Cam from Cardboard Heaven. If you haven’t checked out his blog, do so. He definitely has one of the best blog headers out there. I’m envious of it and wish I had the Photoshop skills to create something as cool.

I gave a list of a few wish list cards, but I’m always happy with any and all Yankees. Cam didn’t disappoint. He sent a fantastic haul. Here are the highlights:

My favorite card is definitely this 2011 Eduardo Nunez Auto Refractor. The signature is on-card which is sweet. I’ve never been able to get Nunez TTM, so I really wanted a 2011 auto of his.

Next up, a framed mini relic of ARod. This is only my second ARod relic! Pretty sweet card. The A&G relics are always well done.

Jesus! These Bowman Futures cards are really growing on me.
Liquorfractors!

And a big stack of Yanks that I was too lazy to scan. The stack was full of many of my favorite Yanks – Jeter, Mattingly, Yogi, DiMaggio. I can honestly say that none of the cards were dupes either!

Cam – thanks for the great Secret Santa gift!

Contest winnings from Cardboard Heaven

A few weeks back, Cardboard Heaven held a contest. The banner on the site was redesigned using all team logos. Readers had to take a stab at guessing the logos, and I was lucky enough to be one of the winners. There were a few minor league stumpers in there, but luckily I recognized them. Thanks Topps Pro Debut!

I had actually forgotten about the contest, so when I received the package I was very surprised. I quickly remembered though, and the prize package was great. It actually came on Saturday while we were waiting for Hurricane Irene to arrive, so once I saw that the package contained a block of Yankee cards, I didn't open them until that night for something to do.

Here are my favorite cards that Cam was nice enough to send:

I was VERY surprised and pleased to see this card. While I'm indifferent about manupatches, this one is awesome. I was at the first game at New Yankee Stadium and CC pitched, so I really think of this as a cool keepsake from the game.

Two very shiny Yankee greats. I did not have this Ruth from the Topps Value Packs, so it will gladly join the Mantle from the same set.

A couple more Yankee legends. This Gehrig eluded me this year in 2011 Topps, so I was happy to finally get it. This Yogi is awesome. It looks like it should be a Topps Tribute card.

Prospects! I looove me some Yankees prospects. Murphy is a great hitter. I had him sign this Bowman card TTM for me, but I didn't have the Chrome version. I sent this exact card to Melky Mesa and I think it's gone for good, so this is a nice replacement for it.

Two current Yankees in their old uniforms. One of these guys is awesome. One of these guys is not.

There were a ton more Yankees too. Some more Mantles and a bunch of Heritage cards. Cam, thanks again for the awesome cards and helping me pass time during Irene.
