I received my group break loot from the The Daily Dimwit's July group break in...well, July. But I got it right before I moved, so I didn't post anything about it. I moved 31 days ago, and I'm still using my move to blame my lack of blogging. Impressive.
Out of the 15 promised hits, I snagged two of 'em. Not too bad at all! I scored a cool Posada relic, and a Frankie Cervelli on-card auto. I hadn't been able to get him TTM, so this will do.
I also included a 2009 Topps Unique Jeter. I hadn't heard of this set. The cards were pretty cool. I'm not usually a fan of so much black, but these look pretty striking.
I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.

Group Break Loot from The Dimwit
I hadn't joined a group break in a while, so I decided to jump in The Daily Dimwit's March Group Break. He was busting some nices boxes of mid-'00s cards, so I felt like I could pick up some good Yanks from years I didn't collect. I was hoping for a hit too, but I was shut out. No biggie, I still enjoyed my cards. I was also assigned the Expos/Nationals, so I got a few nice Vlads too. Does anyone collect him?
There were a lot of cards, but here are the highlighs:

Contest winnings from The Dimwit
I recently participated in The Daily Dimwit's contest and random.org was generous to me and gave me 4th prize. The ARod relic I had hoped for was long gone, but I still came away with a sweet card:
I chose the King Felix relic because he is awesome, and it's not every day that one can get a free relic of the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner. I don't have too many Felix cards, so this was a cool pick up for me. I thank Sam for his generosity and hooking me up with a sweet card.

The Dimwit comes through again
Not even a few days after he sent me some Heritage cards, a second envelope showed up from The Daily Dimwit with three cards from my Gypsy Queen wantlist. The Teixeira Sticky Fingers may replace the Thurman Munson Great Ones as my favorite Yankee card in the set. My only question is the honeycomb design...is it because bees make honey and honey is sticky? Hence sticky fingers?
Anhow, thanks again Dimwit! I have a few cards headed your way.

A gift from the Dimwit
A few days ago, I posted my 2011 Topps Heritage want list. The Daily Dimwit graciously sent me two cards on my list for no charge. This is my first Rafael Soriano card of him on the Yanks. The Dimwit even threw in two inserts that I didn't have. Thanks Sam! I appreciate it and definitely owe you one.

Contest Results! Derek and Dimwit, come on down!
Whew, what a crazy Big East Tournament! UCONN, the nine seed, won an unthinkable 5 games in 5 days to take home the title. Will this hurt them going into the NCAA Tourney? They'll be a trendy pick for sure.
Since none of the 20 entrants picked UCONN to win, I still decided to give away two prizes - the first winner will receive a relic of a former UCONN player. The second winner will receive a relic of a former Big East Tourney MVP. I used random.org, and shuffled the order 9 times each - in honor of the nine seed winning of course! And the winners are.....................................................................
1. Derek from Tomahawk Chopping
2. The Daily Dimwit
Congrats! Derek, I have your addy. Dimwit, email me yours please (thelostcollector AT gmail DOT com).
Congrats to both! Should be a fun NCAA Tourney. Go 'Cuse!
