D aka Potch Wheeler recently sent me a stack of cards out of
the blue. He sent a bunch of Heritage that I needed, and a few really nice
inserts. The orange chrome refractor is incredibly sharp. D and I have traded several times, and I’ll be sure to hit him back up
with some cards in the near future.

I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.

Cards from Indianaland Jones
Earlier this week, I got a package in the mail from D of Potch Wheeler’s Cardboard Heroes slash Indianaland Cards. We hadn’t been working on a deal, so I was curious to see what was inside.
D sent me a few awesome Yankee cards. My favorite of the bunch is easily this 2011 Bowman Platinum Purple of Yankees RHP prospect Adam Warren. He is one of my top five favorite pitching prospects in the system, and he should be next in line to make a start if the Yanks need to call someone up. He’s definitely going to be a September call-up. I was sort of pissed earlier this year when the Yanks signed some random dude, Brian Gordon, and gave him two starts instead of turning to Warren. The comparison to Zack Greinke on the back of the card is outrageous. However, I have no doubt that Warren could be a good #3 starter in the NL or a decent #4/5 in the AL.
Next up, a cool Mark Teixeira. I think this was a Target-exclusive card, but I’m not totally sure.
Andy Pettitte, looking as bad ass in mini form as in standard form.
Lastly, a few other nice Yanks as well.
D, thanks again. You’ll be getting a return package in the near future.

Trade Review: Potch Wheeler #4
D over at the enjoyable Potch Wheeler and the Cardboard Heroes and I seem to be becoming fairly frequent trade partners. He collects three teams, I collect Yanks, so it's usually pretty easy to match up. I sent D a few cards I thought he'd enjoy from 2011 Topps Series Two, and he sent me some great Yanks.
The highlight of the trade for me is this Robinson Cano Topps 60 Relic. I think it's actually from Series Two because the photo of him is different than the Cano Jersey Relic I pulled from Series One. This frustrates me a little because I wanted to collect as many of the Yanks as possible, and now if some of the players featured in Series One have new relic cards in Series Two, it makes it that much harder. However, I still love the design, and am happy to add my third relic of Cano to my collection:
For comparison sake, here are the two relics side by side:
Here is an assortment of cards Potch also threw in. The Rivera is a 60 YOT card, and I've always been a fan of this card because it captures Mo's iconic pitching motion so well. I actually have the Opening Day version of this card signed by Mo. I was also excited to get the Ben Gamel (Mat's brother) Bowman, and have already sent it TTM in hopes of getting it signed. The green parallel was unexpected but welcome.
D - thanks again for a great trade!

Trade Review: Potch Wheeler #3
I recently completed my third trade with Darren from Potch Wheeler and the Cardboard Heroes, although I still owe D some cards. Just haven't had time to gather and make it to the post office. I've been all over the country the last few days, so I apologize for the delay.
D had two GQ cards that I needed, and they were two inserts to boot. He sent me the Phil Hughes Future Stars (or in Phil's case, Past Stars?) and the Lou Gehrig Home Run Heroes. Darren was also nice enough to send me an assortment of Yanks. Much appreciated. D, thanks for the trade! Your cards will be sent soon. If you haven't traded with him, go check out his page, as he is a very easy trading partner since he collects a few teams and players.

Trade Review: Potch Wheeler Cards
Recently, D over at Potch Wheeler and the Cardboard Heroes reached out about a small trade. He had a 2010 Heritage Jeter SP, and I had a few 2011 Heritage cards he needed. He also threw in some O-Pee-Chee Yanks, none of which I had since I wasn't collecting when these came out. I won't lie, I kind of like the design of these. Simple and the colors are pretty unique. The photos pop nicely against the border - simplicity works here.
I'm a slacker and haven't had a chance to head to the post office, but D, rest assured your cards will be going out today. That goes for anyone else that I owe cards to as well.

Trade Review: Potch Wheeler
After posting about my disappointing Heritage blaster, Darren from Potch Wheeler and the Cardboard Heroes sent me an email claiming a few of the cards. We're both fairly new kids on the blog block, so it was fun to make a trade with a newbie like myself. Darren sent me a few 2011 Heritage Yanks. I don't know how they do it, but Topps picks the worst photos of the Yanks. 2009 Cano looked like he was high, and this year's Swisher isn't his most flattering shot. Cano's is better this year, but still looks a little funny.
I was also excited to get some 2010 Topps I didn't have, especially the Jerry Hairston and Austin Kearns. I love getting Yankee cards of guys that only spent a short time in the Bronx. I liked both of these guys a lot. I'll more than likely use these cards for TTM.
Darren, thanks for the Yanks!
