A RC I had to have

I'm not huge into rookie cards. Although I do enjoy cards of prospects, I don't necessarily collect them to stock up on rookie cards.

Sure, there are a few I own that I cherish - an '84 Topps Mattingly, a '93 Topps Jeter, just to name a few. And I really, really want Mariano Rivera's Bowman RC. However, there is one that I have been chasing for awhile, and I finally picked up.

Cano is the best 2B in baseball, and thus far, has been the rock in the Yankees lineup, providing middle of the order power and striking fear into opposing pitchers. I've been a big fan of his since he came up, and the cost of his RC are only going up. I found it for a pretty good deal on eBay, and finally pulled the trigger.

I'd be surprised if Cano didn't re-sign with NY after his deal is up this year. I look forward to watching him continue to produce in his prime, and am happy to now own this card.

A poor condition Dave Winfield RC

During a 2am feeding with my little man, I was on my phone and pulled up my ebay app. I did a few random searches, and somehow stumbled on this. A Dave Winfield RC in crappy condition. No clue what I was searching for at the time, but it was 2am. That's my excuse. I placed a low bid, and ended up winning the card for about $2 shipped. It’s in rough shape, but I still thought it would be pretty cool to own a Winfield RC. What do you think? Worth the few bucks, or should I have spent a bit more on a better conditioned one?

Purchase Review: Gary Sanchez RC

I've been finding it a little difficult to find time to post the last few days. I have a steady amount of cards/trades rolling in, but between crazy times at work, my best friend being in town, and the Big East Tournament going on, it's hard to find the time. I feel like I am even behind my regular reading of all of your blogs and I feel like I don't know what's going on out there.

I wanted to take a quick change to show off a RC I just picked up. I grabbed a Gary Sanchez 2010 Bowman Chrome. Just a regular base card, not an auto or refractor or anything else too rich for my blood. The Yankees have an embarrassingly rich amount of catching prospects, and Sanchez, while the youngest, may end up being the best. He absolutely mashed in rookie ball last year, already drawing comparisons to Jesus Montero with better defense. It's hard to bank on a prospect this young (he is only 18 years old), but he's one to watch for sure. I picked up this gem for $.79 (plus $2 shipping). I don't love the outline signature on the card, but otherwise it's a good looking card.

On a more somber note, my thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
