Have you guys ever seen these? In 1971, Milk Duds offered cards on their boxes. So in addition to a wonderful chocolatey caramel snack, you also scored a baseball card. Why don't companies do this now?
When I saw these, I needed to have them. I was able to win a Listia lot for these two cards. The Johnson is for trade if anyone is interested.
I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.

That's a big hell yeah on the Alex Johnson! Email me, we'll figure something out.
ReplyDeleteFood companies don't do this any more because of all the licensing hassle
ReplyDeleteWell in Japan a potato chip company called Calbee releases a baseball set every year (known as Calbee Cards by collectors) where you get two cards with every bag of potato chips you buy. I can only imagine how great and terrible such a product would be over here in the states.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to add more food cards to my Yankees collection. Those are pretty sweet.
