Happy Easter!

To all those who celebrate it, Happy Easter!

As a kid, in addition to delicious candy, my Easter basket always had some baseball or basketball cards. I remember one year there were four cans of Pinnacle Inside. Another year, a blaster of Collector's Choice basketball cards. It was always something to look forward to.

This year, I get to be the Easter Bunny for the first time. While my son is only three months old, I have to have a little something for him since I have nieces who will be receiving baskets too, and I can't have them wonder why he didn't get anything. I already bought a pack of Topps Stickers to put in there, just to start the tradition of him getting some cards in his basket even though he probably won't care about them for a few years.

  1. Happy Easter to you ! At 24 and 27 our two sons still got Topps stickers today. We had to mail a package to Andy and his wife, who are Illinois, and Josh has his waiting here.
I got a Wheaties baseball cereal bowl and a rack pack of Opening Day !

  2. Great minds think alike! I too stuck a few packs of Topps stickers into my son (9 mos.) and daughter's (4.5) baskets.

Sure enough, the boy tried to eat his cards. My daughter spied the packs amongst her princess makeup and Hello Kitty gear and exclaimed, "Daddy, the Easter Bunny left some baseball cards for you!"

I assured her the cards were for her and she was mildly interested as we thumbed through them real quick. Curiously, she also thought to give some of them to her friend-that's-a-boy from two houses down.

I'll have to keep my eye on that kid (I kid, our families are friends and at this age, it's all good).

    But one day......

Anyways - long live the tradition of cardboard & Easter! Hope you enjoyed your first there, Easter Bunny!
