I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.

1951 Topps - The Rizzuto chase continues
In my quest to pick up an original Topps card of Phil Rizzuto, I had to have this one. I'm still chasing the 1952 Topps white whale, but this one is even older!
1951 Topps are cool. I know they don't get mentioned in the same breath as other Topps issues from the '50s, as they were a different ballgame...literally. But they do hold a meaningful place in the hobby as Topps first entry into the baseball card world.
This card is in decent condition. A slight crease in the upper right and some fuzzy corners, but overall really nice. The color is great.
Once I grab a '52 at some point (it will happen), I'll probably start focusing on Bowman, as well as some oddballs, such as Wheaties.

Holy cow, nice pickup!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the '51 Scooter. The 1951 set is the only vintage Topps issue I don't any cards from. I need to fix that.
