Topps Series Two shiny SPs?!

Yesterday I swung by Modell's and they had a bunch of fresh boxes of 2011 Topps Series Two on display. I mean f-r-e-s-h. Gravity boxes and blasters. They hadn't been dug through at all. I was waiting in line with a blaster in my hand, but had that guilty feeling of knowing I shouldn't be wasting money on this. All I would end up with is a manupatch of an Arizona Diamondback and a bunch of cards I didn't really need. So I stepped out of line  and put the blaster back on the shelf and bought just three retail packs for $2.49 each.

I'd say my luck was pretty decent overall. I pulled a Tom Seaver SP in the first pack. That was cool, especially because I didn't pull any SPs in Series One. In pack two, I landed a shiny Hank Greenberg SP and a Don Mattingly Topps 60. Awesome pack! The Mattingly is sweet and I was pumped to pull it. The Greenberg is gorgeous - I thought I may have stumbled on a really rare card, but there are a couple of these on eBay. Are the Diamond Anniversay SPs tough pulls? Are they even SPs at all? Are SPs easier to find in Series Two?

  1. Nice pulls. I just got back from my camping trip and have yet to venture into a store that may have Series 2.
