Top 5 TTMs of the year: #1 Steve Karsay

What?! Steve Karsay? An oft-injured reliever from the late 90’s and early 2000’s? Well, yes. Why? Because it was the final piece for my Topps Yankees Project. I’ll use this as an excuse to show off the completed project one last time.

Top 5 TTMs of the year: #2 Yogi Berra

Adding the autograph of a HOFer and baseball legend like Yogi was a true thrill. This card looks great and I view it as one of the highlights of my entire collection. Yogi seemed to be going on a few free signing binges this year, so I was lucky to get him. I wish I had the balls to send an original Topps, but too risky. This card will do just fine.

Top 5 TTMs of the year: #3 Don Mattingly

Show me a Yankee fan who doesn’t love Donnie and I’ll show you a liar. I sent this card to Mattingly at the end of the season and he returned it signed. I’ve heard some stories about him using a ghost signer, but I sent it to LA and it was post-marked from Evansville, IN…seems like a lot of trouble for a ghost signer. I think the sig looks pretty legit too.

Top 5 TTMs of the year: #4 Hideki Matsui

I sent a card to one of my all-time Yankee favorite, Hideki Matsui, without expecting much in return. I was pleasantly surprised when I received this card back signed. I always admired how Matsui played and his flair for the dramatic. I remember when he broke his wrist and was out for the year, he actually apologized to the fans. Who does that? And I’ll always remember his Game 6 HR off of Pedro in the 2009 World Series. I was there.
