Loving the PWEs

I think I've previously stated, but it feels like PWEs find their way to me in bunches. I could go months without getting one, then three pop up in one week. That's why it's always fun to go to the mailbox.

Last week, Adam from Cardboard Clubhouse sent an awesome PWE. It definitely struck a really nice vintage chord, and are some big-name players!

 I love it! They were all in great condition too. I definitely didn't have that Jim Hunter, and the Murcer is a really special card given what we meant to Yankee fans.

I really liked this Ken Greer card from Star. I've gotten a lot of Star cards over the years, but I don't recall seeing the purple border. I kind of like it! Very different.

Tanaka time! Being that this is his fifth Yankees season, I need to start counting how many Tanaka I have. It's gotta be in the 50 or 60 range.

Adam, this was a most appreciated and unexpected surprise. Thank you!

TTM Success: Goose Gossage

I won't lie, I double-dipped on this one. I did receive a Goose Gossage TTM autograph a long time ago. I'm not exactly sure when. I want to say I got it while I was in high school, but can't remember if that's accurate. That card is now a key piece of my Topps Yankees Project.

I figured enough time had passed where I wouldn't feel guilty for sending him another request. I had seen that he was signing without a fee, so I gave it a shot, and in just 21 days this returned:

Goose is definitely a cranky old man, but damn, can he sign a card. His signature is a pure treasure.

Photos from BASEBALL DAD that is. I was going to go with "I love you dad!" (Old school, anyone?) but felt that was getting into creepy territory.

So I'm very behind on my blog posts, especially showing off some packages sent by fellow bloggers. I'm sorry. I'll blame it on being busy with the birth of my daughter. Even if that's not entirely true, when else am I going to have this good of an excuse for being so behind? So yes, I'm behind because of my 5-week-old (it's been 5 weeks already?!?!).

Anyhow, a while back, Baseball Dad sent me an unexpected package. Inside? A COMPLETE YANKEES TEAM SET of 1981 Topps 5x7 "Home Team" cards. Or are they photos and not cards? I don't know. All I know is that these are awesome and I have to figure out a way to display there.

A few additions to Joey's HOF binder

I haven't added many cards to my son's HOF binder recently. I've gotten some cards for him fellow bloggers, which is always most appreciated. The little punk is going to have a really nice collection that he can sell when he's 14 to buy the new Call of Duty Game on PS9.

Rance'd by Napkin Doon

I’ve been by Rance'd by Napkin Doon. In what will surely become 2013’s version of Bipping, Nap included three Rance Mulliniks cards in our latest card exchange. Little does he know, these cards are already on the way to Rance for a TTM ‘graph. I’ll have the last laugh, Nap. Just wait.

He actually sent me some cards I wanted as well. My favorite of the lot was a group of 2013 Bowman Yankees with some fancy flags in the background. Interesting that the USA players have their state flag in the background instead of a US flag.

He also sent this awesome Jeter. I love Diamond Kings. 

Not only did he send me cards, but included three cards for Joey’s HOF binder. The highlight for me is this 1960 Fleer Mickey Cochrane. Such a cool card from a great, underrated set. Nap also sent a Goose, and a Gehrig. Since I’ll never own an original Gehrig, I’ll gladly put this in the binder, as I might as well have an awesome card like this Diamond King instead of a Topps Golden Moment or something. 

And in his signature move, Napkin included a pack of 1990 Topps. The highlight for me was this Edgar Martinez. Look at that pornstache and sweet jacket.
