The Big Sexy, Bartolo Colon, signed this card for me via the mail.
You know, the Yankees might be responsible that this guy is still out there entertaining baseball fans around the world. His career looked pretty done after 2009 and not being in baseball in 2010. The Yankees gave him a shot in 2011, and while it was his only season with the team, he showed he still had something left in the tank. Seven years later, he's still out there doing what he does. Pretty cool.
Glad to have his autograph, especially on a Yankees card. Thanks, you sexy beast.
I collected baseball cards from the late '80s through 2002. Then I went to college and when I came out, I was lost. There were too many brands, sets, choices, relics, autos, parallels, variations. It was a turn off. However, I slowly made my way back. So here is my attempt to venture back into the hobby. I'll buy a few packs of cards here and there, comment on some cards I have, send out some TTMs, and follow the progress of my Topps Yankees Project.
This is fantastic! I didn't realize he didn't play in 2010. And bravo to the Yankees for taking that chance. What a neat card. I'm not sure how familiar I am with 2011 Topps, but I quite like the design.
ReplyDelete2nd Colon TTM post of the day. Hope he plays next year. Now that I know he signs... I'd love to send him an A's card to sign.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see him holding down the back of a rotation somewhere next season, at least long enough to hit the 250-win mark. I know pitcher wins don't count for much, but it's a nice round number to go for.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous. Did you send this to the Rangers?
ReplyDeleteYessir.
DeleteWow, I think the whole blogosphere is jealous over that return!
ReplyDeleteSo sexy.
