Rounds 1 and 2

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I tried to stay pretty disconnected from last week until yesterday. That included not reading blogs, so I apologize for missing many of your posts over the last week.

I was away for 6 days or so, and when I got back, my mailbox was packed. While a lot of it was junk mail and advertisements, I did get a couple of cards . As luck would have it, two of them were of the Yanks' first and second round picks in 2015.
I snagged this large relic swatch of James Kaprielian, the Yankees first pick taken 16th overall. If all goes according to plan, he'll climb the system pretty quickly this year. UCLA constantly has great pitching staffs, and Kaprielian was their ace this past year.

In the second round at #57 overall, the Yanks grabbed upside lefty starter Jeff Degano from Indiana State. He had Tommy John surgery a couple of years ago, and that hurt his draft stock. He could have been a first rounder had he been healthy in his college career. I doubt he'll climb as fast as Kaprielian, but at 23 years old he shouldn't be too far behind. The name of the game is staying healthy, and if he does, the Yanks should have a good one

What's cool about this is that both of the guys (along with 30th overall pick Kyle Holder) all played for Staten Island at the same time this season. Zippy Zappy got to see these guys a bunch, as he's our resident SI mega fan. Pretty neat that three players taken in the top 60 of the 2015 MLB Draft all played at the same level so quickly.

  1. Awesome pickups.

BTW, both of these guys have base cards and autographs in this year's Bowman Draft.
