Turkey month

Thanksgiving gets the shaft.

I admit, it's not my favorite holiday, nor is it my favorite meal. I like it just fine, but I don't crave turkey and the fixings. Many families eat at like 3pm, which is neither lunch nor dinner time. I never understood that.

Yet, it's a great holiday. It's a kick in the pants to remember to be thankful for what you have, something that's not easy to do on a daily basis. I'm as guilty as anyone.

As soon as Halloween is done, every single store immediately turns to Christmas. Go into any drugstore and you'll see this. It's ok, I love Christmas and everything that comes with it. I just think it sucks that we get so focused on it that we basically just go through the Thanksgiving motions, using Thanksgiving as more of a "ONE MONTH TO GO" reminder than anything else.

All that was just to show off this Topps Turkey Red Bernie Williams relic I recently got. Gobble gobble.

I thought Thanksgiving was a reminder of how the European settlers took this land by force and slaughtered the native people already living here (Columbus Day Pt 2).

  2. I got really sick when I was in college during Thanksgiving. Always been kind of a mental block for that meal ever since. Thankfully I married into a Italian/Lebanese family so they usually have many other interesting options besides the traditional items.

  4. Miss Turkey Red. As for the holiday... Thanksgiving is okay. I get a week off and the opportunity to eat pumpkin pie, stuffing, and gravy. However... I'd much rather have a juicy steak, than turkey.
