Get well soon, Ty Hensley

I’m not sure if any of you heard or saw on Twitter today, but it was released that Yankees prospect Ty Hensley was hospitalized due to a brutal attack. It’s sickening news. I was shocked when I heard, and just felt sick to my stomach reading some of the details.

You may recall, Ty’s name as a frequent subject of my posts, as he is my main PC guy these days. While I have never met Ty, I haven’t ever heard one bad word uttered about him. He’s always been incredibly fan-friendly, and seems to go out of his way to interact with me on Twitter. That means a lot to a nerdy card collector like me. He’s had some very bad luck with injuries over the past few years, but took a big step in the right direction this summer in terms of being back on the mound and showing his promise as a future Yankees pitcher. I know he’ll overcome this just the same way he has with the other challenges he has faced. And I’ll be supporting him 100%.

It happened on December 28, so it was about 10 days ago. The report says that he is home resting. Sadly, December 28th is also my son’s birthday, and Ty was nice enough to autograph a card for him last summer. In case you can't see the inscription, it says "Joey, Believe in yourself!"
Ty, I believe in you. Get well soon, my man. I hope to see you back on the mound dominating soon.

  2. This story is so crazy. The Oklahoma paper had a report that he got into a fight over sports and signing bonuses.

  6. Poor guy. When I met him in Staten Island he was one of the nicest and most professional people I had ever met. I wish him the best.
